It's good but...

I think you really missed a creative opportunity by not showing what the little brother looked like...or for not showing how the older brother's leg would be replaced. I felt cheated without seeing those two things. Anyway it was funny and nostalgic.

P.S. People like to support nice people. Your author comments seem quite rude and aren't helping you at all. People will troll you just because they know you will react poorly. Newgrounds is truly a family and kindness will get you a long way.

BoobMarley responds:

This is the internet. I don't care whose "support" I acquire by bending over and taking it from useless, inflammatory comments.
Get me a "long way"? Really? To what end? Internet stardom and ultimate power? Maybe in your 14 year-old day dreams.
I have a real life, with a real career and friends and family. This is just a little pet project.

Good, but cheesy music

Nice animation with a story that left you feeling whole. The music choice however reminded me of the worst sonic the hedgehog stuff from the nineties. It really was horrible cheesy electric rock.

Veinom responds:

Most people here like the music. In my opinion Sonic games for Genesis had some of the best music ever. Music adds to the fun and the mood. Anyway, music is the only thing I didnt do, so I dont really care. Thanks for the comment on the story and animation, its very helpful!

Good, but very predictable

Why not call him Robobeard... it just sounds a lot nicer. Anyway, there were no punchlines that made me laugh, just a funny atmosphere. I like to laugh. You like to laugh...make me laugh please.

DestructoBox responds:

Maybe try out our new short next week?
Better luck with that one perhaps?

Funny, compact concept

The main joke was funny, but I wish the guy without the chest pimples had more to say in the way of jokes rather than just filling his mouth up several times. In that sense, after you figured it out there wasn't any thing left to laugh at. However, the main laugh was a big one...kudos.

DestructoBox responds:

Stay tuned! "Joey" has much more to say in the coming episodes. Promise!

A very simple fix

I liked it a lot. I'm a big fan of stop motion as opposed to flash animation. However, the timing needs work. For most of the movements if you sped up the frame rate like 1.5 times the motions would seem more realistic and smooth. Given the length the reduced time shouldn't be an issue. Try watching it with the whole thing sped up and see if you like it better, that might just do the trick. Thanks for sprinkling us with creativity. Peace.

Captain responds:

I'm fairly certain that the original movie had a faster framerate, but when it was converted to flash it slowed it down a bit. I can get a copy that has the faster framerate, but I don't think it's that big of a problem.

Good, but not enthralling

The picture you paint is not nearly bleak enough for him to rationally quit his job. If he is supposed to be sad, he doesn't seem to be. The fact that he is depressed about the girl... is all his fault and this story has no protagonist. For that reason, people will not have any emotional stake in this and leave without much of a feeling. Here's the plot: a guy is good at his job, but doesn't love it, so he quits to pursue a hobby. His emotional and mad rejection at the end does not follow a natural progression of anger that should have been built up. In order to fix this up for the contest, the only thing i think you can do is not have him quit his job and let him find the balance perhaps by adding a scene where he gives the girl or a kid a beautiful piece of origami.

ernest-aka-gooey responds:

I see...
Hm. I think what I ended up doing is making the whole of the story too personal to me. I did not show enough of who this character is, and I guess because people don't have a perfect understanding of the character they can't know why he acts the way he does.
Ya.. in terms of fixing it up for this film festival... idunno I don't think I could do it in terms of what you suggest. In the sense that I do not have enough time. I think this is more of something for me to remember for future projects.
Thanks for the review.

That's the money shot

As always great. I know these pansies can't handle hard, crude, and rude humor, but it truly is funny. Whenever I wanted something to happen it did (like the fight scenes and what not). On the surface it may seem shallow, but your skill to take how people are feeling moment to moment and make it happen it a true talent.

JunkYardAnimations responds:

wow, thanks a lot dude!!! hope u enjoy episode 4

Oh yes, that is Christmas!!

Damn that was some great humor. To me it felt like it's always sunny in Philadelphia, but i can see where the guy below me gets the Home-Movies connection. Anyway that was awesome, superb character comedy. Hell, if you wanted to you could even give us a sequel next Christmas :)

sirjeffofshort responds:

Always Sunny is definitely a respectable influence, as is Home Movies. Thanks a ton for the review. I hadn't thought much about a sequel... but NOW I am. Haha.

No man, you just look like an idiot!

Great. Love the voice acting and the jokes.

VillainousTurtleSLC responds:

Hey thanks a ton loofawash!

Now thats what I call Democracy!

Hey man, I'm from Austin too. I gotta say wow, that was some crazy production quality. Let me guess, you work for IBM?? I'm super into politics and let me say I'm glad Captain Capitalism drank from the blue cup. *Cough*Obama*Cough*

captcapitalism responds:

No, I dont work for IBM...but I am old enough to have played those games on those monitors. Good to hear someone from the hometown on here...enough the cool weather while we have it.
